Tulsi

Tulsi (Holy Basil) is used in Ayurveda from ancient time. In indian (Hindu) families the plant has religeous place. Any one can find tulsi plant outside the Hindu houses in beautiful concrete structures known as Tulsi Vrundavan . In charak Samhita the medicinal use of Tulsi is mentioned by charak.
Tulsi plant plays vital role in preventing pollution by acting as a filter. Scientists has suggested to plant large number of tulsi plantation near Taj at Agra(India) to prevent blackening of the famous Taj Mahal. The leaves can be used in any form like herbal tea, raw leaves or mixed with ghee.
Medicinal Use :
1)Tulsi extract is used as ayurvedic remedy in common cold, headaches, malaria, inflammation, heart deseases.
2) Epilepsy(fits)
Tulsi leaves in combination with camphor is given for smelling to patient.
3)Bad Breath :
Chew well four leaves of tulsi in morning and drink glassful of water.
4) Insect Bites :
Crush some leaves of tulsi and rub extract on affected part of the body.
5) Diabetis :
It controls blood glucose level because of its antioxidant properties.
